Back!

Books, Family, General, Meghan

I am aware that its taken me longer than predicted to finish but I am finally done with Harry Potter. Over the past ten days I have read book’s five (Saturday-Tuesday), six (Tuesday-Saturday) and seven (Saturday – Today). Almost 2000 pages in ten days isn’t too bad when I have Meghan to look after. I fully enjoyed The Deathly Hallows. The last ten chapters or so I just couldn’t put it down. I have to say, as soon as I saw the title of the final chapter I just knew what I was about to read. It was very predictable. And the names? SO cheesy. It brought me back to reality that its a children’s book. But like I said, apart from that chapter I loved it so much. Although I am glad its over. I’ve been reading non-stop, as much as I can anyway, and I’ve been dreaming Harry Potter and thinking about it when I’m not reading it. Its been driving me mad! I’m glad I re-read Half Blood Prince because it made a lot more sense this time around. I think last time I just read it and didn’t take anything in but this time I actually understood what was happening. I still need to keep reading although not as much as I have been. I have six library books out that are due back in three weeks and I have yet to read any of them. I’m starting Nineteen Eighty-Four again and I will read it this time.

So whats been happening apart from Harry Potter? Well the Saturday I got the book, I came home from town and electrocuted myself on the kettle. It wasn’t boiling so I went over to it and pulled the wire out of the kettle and it sparked and crackled. I had an entry and exit wound on my hand. It hurt like hell a couple of hours after it happened. Its fine now.

Alex worked six days last week so I hardly saw him and when I did it was like talking to a zombie he was so tired. He also had his second interview last Thursday and guess what? HE’S GOT THE JOB! YAY! You cannot believe how happy we are with this. It has taken him a while to get one but its worth it with the amount of money he will be on a year. He hasn’t officially, in writing, been told yet so we don’t know when he will start on the new wage but I hope its soon.

Its Alex’s 27th birthday next Tuesday and tomorrow he’s getting a tattoo as a birthday present. Last year he got Emelye’s name tattooed on his right arm and tomorrow he’s getting Meghan’s name on his left arm. He’s really excited and I can’t wait to watch him have it done. Amy is going to have Meghan while I go and watch him. On his birthday we are going to watch The Simpson’s Movie – if everything goes to plan with Meghan going to bed. I suggested a film but he’s gone off food a bit at the moment and we both really want to see The Simpson’s film so we’re doing that instead. I can’t wait. I have no idea what to get him as a present. I can’t get him a lot because of the tattoo and the fact that he went to see the Arctic Monkeys on Sunday night which cost a lot. I’ll think of something. It’s Amy’s 17th the week after but she’s easy to buy for because she likes everything I like :) .

Goodbye for a while

Books, General

Until I’ve read the new HP book I’m not coming online. I don’t trust the internet to not tell me the ending and I am not having it ruined for me. I’ve still got a long way to go with Order of the Phoenix. I reckon it will take me until at least Monday to read that, then about Thursday for Half Blood Prince so it will be this time next week before I’m back again. Don’t miss me too much!

Before I forget, Jessica tagged me a while ago and I keep forgetting to do it.

Here are the rules:
A. Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves.
B. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

  1. I constantly worry about money. I’m the one that pays all the bills and organises the money.
  2. I hate cleaning my bathroom. I only do it when it really needs doing.
  3. I feel like I don’t spend enough quality time with my daughter. She’s such a good little girl that I can just leave her to it and then I feel terrible.
  4. I’m a huge bookworm. I read any chance I have.
  5. I haven’t taken a photo of me and Alex since we first got together. Thats something I need to do when he gets home from work.
  6. I’m very easily distracted.
  7. I want a Nintendo DS SO badly. If I don’t get one for Christmas I will cry.
  8. Something from the past – When I was 6 I went to private school for about a year because I was always ahead at public school. The only reason I stopped going was because my Dad decided he didn’t want to pay anymore.

Exhausted

Books, Family, General, Meghan, TV

I’m so exhausted. I don’t know whats wrong with me. I don’t think the weather is helping too much though. Its been raining for god knows how long and then today, I wake up and the suns shining and its way too hot. I hate hot weather. I wouldn’t mind it there was a bit of a breeze but thats none existant. I walked up to my parents house which is a good 20-30 minute walk and I thats where I started to feel really tired. I’m not feeling too well today anyway. I’ve got a bit of a sore throat and I’m constantly thirsty. I just can’t drink enough. I think thats to do with my throat though.

I took Meghan to see my nana and grandad yesterday – or should I say my mum took me and Meghan since I can’t drive :) . My grandad had friends round which annoyed me a bit to be honest because he knew we were coming and I took Meghan round mainly for his sake. He’s been in and out of hospital a lot and he’s not really seen her that much. I don’t want to take her into hospital to see him just incase she catches something. After his friends had gone I was talking to my grandad about Harry Potter. He was upset because he couldn’t take me and my sister to watch the new film. He can’t sit down for that long with his hip. We got onto the book and I said how I couldn’t afford the new book because I don’t have the money. Next thing my nana is handing me £10 and telling me to go and buy the new book! I was just gonna have to wait until Amy has read her’s and then read it until she gave me that money. I’m going to preorder it tomorrow and then pick it up Saturday morning. I don’t want to go at midnight, mainly because Alex is working Saturday so I’m still gonna have to be up at about 6AM. I’m currently reading The Order of the Phoenix. I started it before I saw the film and I don’t want to stop now. I’m gonna try and get at least that finished by Saturday and then start The Half Blood Prince. I can hardly remember anything that happened in that. I hope I can start the new book by next Wednesday at the latest.

I’m re-watching Smallville Season 5 at the moment. Season 6 starts on Sunday and I only watched half of 5 because I had my cable cut off. Plus I stopped watching it when Johnathan died. It just annoyed me.

Nine Months Old

Meghan

Meghan - Nine Months Today

Today my little girl turns nine months old. I think nine months is quite a big step. The past nine months both myself and Meghan have been learning. I’ve been learning how to become a mother – knowing what she needs, what’s best for her and setting a routine down. For Meghan its been “how do I move?” She can now stand as long as she’s holding on and she walks very unsteadily along her cot. She tries to crawl but gives up after she falls down once. As well as moving, she has gotten her two bottom teeth – I think her top ones are cutting – she can say ‘ba ba,’ ‘da da,’ ‘hiya’ and her new one sounds something like ‘da-goy.’ She makes me laugh all the time. She likes it when I read her stories. At bedtime she will sit almost still between my legs while I read to her. She even looks when I point at things on the page. We finally have her sleeping sorted out. She goes to bed at 7PM no problem and is up around 7AM. She has the odd off day when she wakes up at 3AM but I’ll let her off since its not every day.

Mummy loves you Meghan. Watching you grow up is the best thing ever.

Finally waking up

Family, Films, General

I’ve been up since 6.45AM with Meghan and I’m finally waking up. I was planning on going back to sleep once Meghan was back to sleep but she’s only just gone down and there’s not really much point now. I’m gonna get in the shower and get some breakfast once I’ve finished here. I’m starving!

Alex is at work today and he doesn’t get another day until Sunday. He’s has four days off which is the longest he’s had off between working in a long time. This week is going to be hard now because I’ve been spending so much time with him. We need the money though so its okay. He still hasn’t heard if he’s got the job or not and we’re starting to think he’s not got it with having to wait so long. We just want to know because if he hasn’t, he needs to start applying for other things.

I watched Hot Fuzz last night. Well the end of it. Alex and I started to watch it on Sunday but I fell asleep near the end so we finished it off last night. Its really good. Villages are a bit like that, obviously just not as extreme!

Done, done and done

Books, Family, Films, Internet/Website

I’ve finally finished sorting this theme out! I have changed quite a lot of it so it sort of looks like I would have wanted it if I had made it from scratch. I did try to make one from scratch but it just didn’t happen. I got very confused so I gave up and found this. It took me a lot longer to sort out because I got tired and then I’ve only just had chance to get it sorted. Sorry for not blogging for a while too. Like I said, I’ve not really had the time.

Thursday night I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I have to say, apart from the very overlooked death of quite an important character, it was fantastic. I loved the duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore. The graphics were amazing. There were a couple of things I noticed that made me laugh. I don’t know if anyone/anyone’s children watch Balamory but Archie was the weather man on the TV at the Dursley’s. Also, if you go and see it, watch how many times both Ron and Hermione are in stripy jumpers at the same time. I think there is one time that they aren’t. I really want to go and see it again but there is other films I’d like to see first. I have a dilemma about the seventh book. I can’t decide whether to buy it off Amazon, pre-order it at Borders and pick it up at midnight or pre-order it at Borders and go first thing Saturday morning. I NEED to have it on the day thats for sure. I can’t believe its out on Saturday. Its come way too quickly.

Alex and I had a hard night on Friday. It took us both about two hours to get Meghan to sleep and then Emelye decided that she wanted to listen to a CD rather than read. It was reading time so I said no, she couldn’t and I had to send Alex up to get him to tell her the same because she wouldn’t listen to me. It sort of escalated from there. Emelye started shouting and crying which got Alex mad. Meghan woke up screaming because she was scared. It wasn’t very nice. They both didn’t get to sleep until about midnight by which time I’d drank over half a bottle of wine and had left Alex to it. Its probably not the best way to go about it but I couldn’t cope and Alex could so thats what I did.

Warning

Internet/Website

I’m doing a live edit so if it looks a huge mess, which it will, I apologise. I should have it sorted by tonight.

Edit: I’ll finish it off tomorrow. I can’t work out an error.

Lets see

Films, General, House

Lets go through all my things I planned on doing today and see what I actually did :) .

  1. I did the kitchen and the hall/stairs/landing but I didn’t even touch the living room. I do that daily so I can let myself have a break for today.
  2. I did Meghan’s room… and thats it. I didn’t get around to doing our bedroom because Meghan was getting fussy and I don’t even want to look at Emelye’s bedroom. Its a mess.
  3. Did the washing!
  4. And I ate too! Forgot to drink though. I didn’t have a drink until about 5PM today.
  5. I made Meghan laugh AND I read to her.

Well I didn’t do too badly really. Tomorrow I need to do the living room, just go over the kitchen to keep on top of it and clean our bedroom. Its tidy, its just not clean. There is a difference.

I forgot to mention that I bought my tickets for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on Monday. I’m going at 8PM Thursday night. I can’t wait. I watched HP and the Goblet of Fire tonight to remind myself :) .

On a mission today

General

My missions for today are as follows:

  1. Completely clean the kitchen, living room and hall/stairs/landing.
  2. Hoover all the floors upstairs so Meghan can have a crawl about. Its worth doing it just for that.
  3. Get all the washing sorted because we have NOTHING to wear.
  4. Find time to actually eat today. I didn’t eat any meals yesterday.
  5. During all this cleaning, find the time to read to Meghan and make her laugh. She’s the hardest baby to make laugh and I don’t think she’s laughed for a few days.

I’ll let you know how I went on later. I bet I’ve done about one of those things out of the five.

Guess what?

Family, House, Meghan

Meghan’s crawling! She just did it on Friday. I was at my Dad’s and I put her on the floor and she just went off! She can’t get her balance properly yet obviously but she’s getting there. We have wooden flooring in our living room where as my Dad has carpet so thats why she was able to do it. I’m so proud of her. I haven’t managed to get a picture of it yet since like I said, we don’t have carpet. Tomorrow I plan on hoovering all the carpets upstairs so I can put her on the floor. Its a bit of a mess at the moment – the whole of upstairs not just the carpets.

Speaking of cleaning – I just can’t keep up with the housework at the moment. Meghan takes up a lot of my time and the only time I really get chance when she’s sleeping. Its really getting to me though. The house is just so untidy and everything needs a good clean. I’m gonna try and do as much as possible this week.

Friday night I went to see the end of year play of the performing arts students at college. It was Moulin Rouge and it was very good. There was a lot more singing (or should I say, there actually WAS singing) and dancing in it then we ever did. I wish we could have done that play. When I was there we did A Midsummer Night’s Dream and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. I didn’t want to go but I’m glad I did in the end.

Saturday we had Emelye and we had planned to go to see Shrek 3 but we wanted to do something with Meghan. The cinema is just too loud for her so we ended up going into town instead. We got Em two PS2 games and then went to Pizza Hut for tea. Meghan was a bit fussy in there but it was only because she was tired and hungry. Once we’d fed her, she was fine. Someone was having their wedding reception in there. Why would you have your wedding reception at Pizza Hut? Anyway, it was a nice day and Meghan went to bed pretty late but she still managed to be up by 8.30AM.
