Struggling To Find Time

House

I haven’t ran all week because I just haven’t been able to. Alex has been working all week and there has been no one to have Meghan. Yesterday he was off work but we had a family day out and were out for around seven hours so by the time I got home the last thing I wanted to do was run four miles. Today I could have ran but I was offered a lie in and I wasn’t going to turn it down! I haven’t had a lie in for so long that I couldn’t say no to it. I happily stayed in bed until past 10AM and was a happy lady. I haven’t had time all day to run since then. Tomorrow I have a 10 mile run which will be a little difficult with me not running all week but I’m looking forward to it.

My point was, if I was ever able to buy a house I would make sure I had the room to have a gym. At least then if I wasn’t able to leave the house, I would still be able to do a workout. I do have a gym in my spare bedroom but I have no fitness equipment as in a treadmill or elliptical trainer. I just have free weights, resistance bands, a yoga mat and a TV and DVD player to watch my fitness DVD’s on. I would also love a swimming pool but maybe that’s pushing it a little bit?! I would have to start looking for swimming pool supplies then which would be fun!

I Want the Bedroom Done!

House

I must have mentioned how much I want to redecorate my bedroom a thousand times now but I’m still paying this big overdue bill off and can’t do anything until it’s out of the way, paid off and I’m straight with it. I do keep looking at ideas for the bedroom though and I think I’m finally settled with what I want. Alex and I have been discussing back and to about what kind of flooring to put in. At the moment, it’s just bare floorboards because the carpet that was down was so old that we just wanted it up. It wasn’t helping with Alex’s allergies at all. I have always wanted carpet and Alex laminate floor but I think I’m leaning more towards laminate too now. I would definitely get a nice fluffy rug for my side of the bed though so that it wouldn’t be too cold on my feet in the mornings! I want the walls painted a turquiose blue with black and white decorations, curtains, lampshade and bed sheets. I want a black wooden bed frame and white wooden furniture. I have been looking at some modern furniture online and in catalouges – mainly Ikea because that place is amazing – and I think I have found what I want for a reasonable price. I need to hurry up and pay this bill off!

New Kitchens

House

Like I said in my previous post, there is a lot that I would love to do to my house but I can’t. The main one would definitely be the kitchen. This house was built around 30 years ago and it still has the same kitchen in it as it had when it was built! A few of my friends both online and offline are having kitchen refits at the moment and I know one of them was looking at some Kohler kitchen faucets and they are really nice. I can’t wait to go kitchen shopping one day. I would do a lot more cooking in my kitchen if I had more space and I cook a lot to begin with.

Home Improvements

House

There are a lot of things I would like to do to this house but since its not mine – I rent – then I’m limited to what I can do. I have free rein when it comes to decoration but other than that, I have to leave it as it is. There wouldn’t be much point in me fixing it up anyway since its not my house. I would love to put in a new kitchen and bathroom and recarpet all upstairs. It also could do with new windows and external and internal doors. Outside, I would probably get rid of all the tree’s that I have in the front so it makes room for more natural light and also so the branches don’t keep interfering with my Sky dish! When I get my own house, I’ll worry about these things more but for now, I just really need to redecorate my bedroom!

Summer’s Coming!

House

Yay! Summer is coming! The sun has been shining now for at least a full week and although its going to rain over the next couple of days, today we are treated to a lovely hot 18°C day today! I have been looking into getting some garden furniture since the beginning of April. I have a cheap plastic table and chairs but I really wanted to get a wooden table and chairs, something that will cope in any weather and that won’t blow over when we have strong winds! Every time we have strong winds, the plastic table I have ends up at the end of the garden, upside down. I recovered the table from that exact place last weekend when I cleared the garden and its filthy. I might spend today cleaning it all while its nice.

Anyway, the wooden table and chairs I have been looking at are a little too out of price range but I still really want one. I would love to be able to eat outside on the days where the weather allows it. My photos would be a lot prettier too outside! I think I’d probably buy some outdoor cushions too to go on the chairs for decoration and for comfort. I might start saving and buy one next year. I don’t want to buy a cheaper one that will only last me a few years, I’d rather spend the money and have it last me at least ten years.

Furniture

House

When Alex was made redundant, he bought me one of the modern couches I had been looking at for a long time for my living room. The one I had was a twice hand me down (his grandma had it then his mum before it came to me) and it was really due to be replaced. The dog has pretty much covered it with hairs and it was becoming really flat and uncomfortable so I was so pleased when he bought me a new one. It was for his sake too since he couldn’t even sit on the couch because he would itch so much from all the hairs. My living room is pretty much the only room in the house that’s complete where furniture is concerned. I still could do with a new computer desk, only because its worn, I love this desk. I do need to repaint in here though. Its been almost five years since we painted this room and its really showing that it needs doing again. I’ll have to try and get the money together to buy a couple of pots of paint.

Heading Into The Unknown!

House, Meghan

Okay, so its not that unknown. She’s only three so what could she possibly be hiding in her bedroom? I’m talking about Meghan’s room – technically, Meghan and Emelye’s room since they now share but since Emelye is only here twice a week, its more Meghan’s room. Her room at the moment is a complete mess. Its not a big room anyway and with two beds – one a high sleeper, Meghan’s is underneath – two wardrobes, a chest a drawers and a mountain of toys, we’re lacking space as it is. One day next week when she’s back at pre-school, I’m going to gut her room. I’d do it with her but she’d just get in my way and want to play with everything so its just easier if I do it myself. I’m heading in there with protective clothing, a couple of black bin bags and my mind focused on making that room look less like a play area and more like a bedroom.

To be quite honest, she probably won’t even miss half of the toys I get rid of. She has a toy box at the bottom of her bed and its full of toys that she’s not even had out for at least a year. She has a huge, huge pile of soft toys that I really need to sort through. I’m the worst at keeping soft toys and I think most of them are mine anyway so it’ll be hard for me to throw them out. I’ll be donating them all to the local hospice for them to sell in the shops.

Wish me luck and hopefully I come out alive and don’t get eaten by that monster under the bed she keeps telling me about.

Games Room

House

I’ve always wanted a games room. One with a bar, a really good stereo system and loads of different game tables like an air hockey game, table football, pool and retro games like Pacman, Space Invaders and my favourite, Frogger! When I get that dream home, its something I’ll definitely get. Along with my library obviously! And the photography studio and gym. And everything else!

Replacement Hangers

House

I used to have some door hangers on the back of my bedroom door but they all broke because I put too much weight on them. I really keep meaning to replace them because I have no where to hang my dressing gown any more. Its just one of those things you never get round to really. Like all those other bits I keep meaning to do – buy frames for my photos and hang them on the walls, repaint the window ledge in the living room, buy a blind for my bedroom and the bathroom. I’ll do it eventually.

Dry Hands

Health, House

I have suffered with very dry hands for a couple of years now, pretty much ever since I became a stay at home mum and had full responsibility of the cleaning. Since Alex doesn’t live here any more, I do 95% of the housework and he occasionally washes the dishes for me if he sees that I’m tired. With the combination of washing the dishes, cleaning the sides down in the kitchen, dusting, hoovering, handling wet clothes, cleaning the bathroom and the normal daily washing, my hands are just horrible. I moisterise every night before I go to bed as its the only time I can really put it on without needing to do anything afterwards but I really need to look into other skin care products. My hands feel nicer when I’m going to bed but in the morning they are just as dry as they were the previous day. I need something intensive. Or just go on a cleaning strike.
