Appetite

Health, food

I’m doing really well with my healthy eating and exercise plan. I have lost almost 4lbs now and I have dropped a dress size in trousers. I feel amazing and I’m so excited to keep it up and see the results in the next month! Sometimes I do wish I had something like an appetite suppressant but rather than it curbing my appetite, it curb my cravings. I crave savoury foods more than anything where as before the diet, all I wanted as chocolate, cake, ice cream etc. Things like crisps, nuts, toast and fruit granola bars are my worst cravings right now. I’m sure I will get over it and I am not depriving myself of these things, I’m just trying to not eat half as much as my mouth would like me too! I want to lose another 1lb before November so I get below 140lbs so that goal should keep me away from the snack cupboard!

So Many Ideas, So Little Time

Alex, General, Internet/Website, food

I’ve been a bit neglectful of this place recently. I hate that I just did loads of paid posts and then nothing since. I seem to have loads of idea for blogs but when I get to the computer, I either forget what I planned on writing or I just don’t have the time and energy to get it written out. I should start doing a few scheduled blogs on the days when I’m in the mood to blog. I love blogs that have blogs up daily and this is my aim for all of my blogs. It only takes around forty-five minutes to blog at all three places so I really should make the effort, especially when most of the time I’m sat on the internet doing absolutely nothing.

I did one thing I hate doing today; I went shopping for food without a shopping list. I pretty much always write out a meal plan for the week and then from there, write a shopping list. My mum and I didn’t plan on going to town until this morning so I didn’t have time to write down a list. I got what I always get plus a little bit more variety of fruit because both myself and Meghan are not eating much fruit at all at the moment and I thought if I bought something a little different than usual, it might help. Hopefully I have enough food in to do me until next week though. I didn’t buy much but I have two chicken breasts in the freezer from last week and now two pounds of minced beef. Money is still a bit rubbish so I’m trying to make the most of what I’ve got. I can’t wait until I get money sorted out because I’m going to order myself a Domino’s pizza and veg out in front of the PC watching Dexter. Sounds like a little bit of heaven.

I’m doing okay on my own by the way. It’s a lot easier this week than it was last night but its still taking me a while to get used to. Meghan’s not really noticed the difference but she knows Daddy’s not here as much as he usually is. I actually impressed myself last night. I had dinner made, the dishes washed, kitchen cleaned, Meghan bathed, dressed, hair dry, story read and into bed all before 7.30PM! Recently, she’s not been going to bed until around 8PM and although me having a lie in until 9AM is lovely, I would rather have the time on my own in the evenings and go to bed earlier.

Its All Down Hill From Here

Completely Random, food

You know near holidays, supermarkets have promotional products everywhere, completely in your face so you buy, buy, buy? Well I went to Asda yesterday like I said and everywhere, there were mince pies. I have this thing for mince pies. They are my most favourite thing ever at Christmas. I love them so much and as soon as they come into the stores I want to buy loads but I always manage to stop myself. Last night I didn’t stop myself. I bought just one packet of six and I thought they would last me the week as long as I behaved myself. Promise you won’t laugh or judge? They’re all gone. All six. I knew I had failed when I bought the packet but I thought I would have some form of self control. Obviously not. And you do know that I now can’t not buy any more next week because I’ll be craving them like crazy? I could have at least waited until December.

Changing It A Little

Shopping, food

I’m currently waiting for my mum to pick me and Meghan up so we can go to town and get some food in to last us until next Monday. I thought I’d blog while I had the chance. I always write out a meal plan before I go food shopping and I thought I’d try and make a few different meals this week since we’re stuck in a rut of about three different meals. It gets rather boring after a while. Tonight I’m making fish in a herb and lime crust with vegetables. Meghan will just be having pasta since we’re having a white fish. I’m making homemade pizza on Friday night and Saturday, thanks to Lisa’s input its tuna melts! I have never made one before and I don’t know why because I LOVE tuna melts. Lets hope I don’t suck really badly at making them. It can’t be that hard.

Not One, But Two Breakthroughs

Meghan, food

Yes thats right. Today we had two breakthroughs. Both concerning food and both concerning Meghan. Do you want to know? Do you? Number one, Meghan ate chicken. Number two, Meghan ate green beans! I know this might not seem like a lot to anyone else but from a child who only eats pasta and pizza (must be my Italian roots), this is amazing! I don’t know what I did differently today to make her eat it but I don’t really care, just because she ate it! She didn’t touch any of her potatoes but to be quite honest, I was expecting her to eat nothing and she ate half of her chicken breast and all of the green beans. Lets ignore the fact that she only had three green beans but I only give her three because like I said, I didn’t expect her to eat anything. Lets also ignore the fact that she only ate her lovely honey mustard chicken when it had been dipped in tomato ketchup. She ate it. That’s what counts.

That Food Problem

Meghan, food

Meghan is a bit of a fussy eater. The only things that is guaranteed that she will eat for dinner are pasta and pizza. Even then its a bit of a hit and miss. She’s getting to the point where she’s selectively eating even if I make something I know she’ll eat. She’d rather just skip dinner and eat her dessert, which obviously most kids do. I’ve been struggling for about six months trying to find meals that she will eat at least half of and I think I’m (sort of) finally getting there.

I’ve been searching for simple, quick recipes online for a while but never really found anything I liked. Everything I did make just turned out terrible or just basically tasted like crap. My favourite website for recipes (both sweet and savoury) is The Crepes of Wrath. I made two of the chicken dishes this week and Meghan liked one out of the two which is definitely a start. I plan on making another couple from there in the next month or so and I’ll definitely have the other two on our bi-weekly meal plan from now on. I really want to try her with pork but she still doesn’t have many teeth (she has four coming in at once at the moment) so she wouldn’t really be able to eat it. The fact that she can’t eat fish cuts out a lot of options for me. Me and Alex love fish and would eat it two/three times a week but apart from tinned tuna, we don’t have any fish in the house anymore.

One thing she is not fussy on is eating fruits. Vegetables are another matter but she likes her fruit – banana’s, strawberries and blueberries are her favourites. She could sit and eat blueberries for hours if I let her which I don’t because they’re too expensive, haha.

Any ideas anyone? Anything that she actually might eat for once?
